Import and export
Learn how AI-MarkDone handles local backup, bookmark import, bookmark export, Export All, and pre-restore checks.
Use this when
You are reinstalling the browser, clearing extension data, moving to another device, or simply want a copy before reorganizing bookmarks.
Where to open it
Open the AI-MarkDone extension panel, go to Settings, then find Back up your data. You will see Local Backup and Google Drive Backup entries.
Local Backup
| Action | What it is for | Suggestion |
|---|---|---|
| Export All | Export the current bookmark data to a local file. | Do this before reinstalling the browser, uninstalling the extension, clearing data, or reorganizing many bookmarks. |
| Import bookmarks | Restore or merge bookmarks from a local backup file. | Check the source file first, especially when local bookmarks still matter. |
| Export bookmarks | Export selected bookmarks or bookmark groups. | Use this when you only need to move or archive part of your material. |
Settings also warns that uninstalling the extension will delete all bookmarks. If those bookmarks matter, export a local backup first.
Before importing
- Make sure the backup file came from your own AI-MarkDone data.
- If your current local bookmarks matter, export a fresh local backup first.
- After importing, check folders, titles, search, and preview.
- When moving devices, test the flow with a small export before importing everything.
Local backup vs Google Drive Backup
Local backup is direct: you keep the file yourself, which is useful for manual migration and archiving. Google Drive Backup is better for keeping verified bookmark snapshots over time and restoring with preview and safe merge.
Next, read Google Drive backup.
The screenshot should focus on local backup and user-triggered actions.
